When you hear the word “tapas”, you would think tiny food from spain, so when i went to Bodega tapas bar for the first time, I was expecting Garlic prawns, Sangria and Arroz con Pollos but I was wrong. It was different, nothing is normal at this place.

“Fish fingers”: sashimi Kingfish on garlic toast with cuttlefish ceviche and mojama 18/20 $16

First time I had this, I was hooked. The kingfish was raw and the bread was warm.  I never liked raw onions but when I had this, it didn’t taste spicy or bitter. Simple and delicious.

Kurobuta butifarra (white sausage) 12/20

Here is something familiar, this could be the closes to the sausages you would get in a normal tapas bar. Since everything else was different, this dish was average.

Slow cooked lamb loin with roast garlic miso and eggplant 19/20 $32

This would be my favourite dish, infact, I’ve had multiple attempts of re-creating this dish at home when I get my cravings. But it wouldn’t be as good as the original. The garlic miso paste would be the key element to this dish, without it, it would just taste like pain grilled lamb. This is a big must try when visiting Bodega.

Vanilla bean ice cream with Pedro Ximenez sherry and espresso 15/20 $14

Basically an Affogato.  Ice cream, Coffee, Shot of Alcohol.

Chocolate jogo with corn ice cream, confit orange and rosemary popcorn 16/20 $14

Think of creamy orange chocolate with popcorn. It’s basically it. I wasn’t a big fan of orange chocolate, maybe because I’ve had too much of it when I was younger.

So, if you like real spanish tapas, do not visit here but everything else, you should try Bodega. There is a possibility that you might not go back to any other spanish tapas after trying here. Try it and tell me what you think of the dishes. Most likely I will be updating this post with more dishes as I will come back very soon.
